Walkthrough

Attempt one real job step by step and record where intent, control, feedback, or recovery breaks.

Can this person complete what they came to do?

Test

A narrow job with a visible boundary

Use it once an interface is operable, including its empty, error, slow, interrupted, and permission paths.

Input

One evidenced job stated without interface nouns and an interface that can actually be attempted.

Outputs

  • A step-by-step cognitive walkthrough
  • Breaks with evidence locations
  • Likely recovery, wrong-path, or abandonment behavior

Boundary

An analytical walkthrough finds affordance and vocabulary failures. It cannot measure frustration or replace observed usability testing.

Invocation

See the decision change

Task: resume the export that stopped yesterday. At each decision, check intent, noticeability, connection to the goal, and visible progress.

The unit of evaluation changes from screen to task.

1 / 2
  1. Screen critique

    The dashboard hierarchy looks clear.

Task: resume the export that stopped yesterday. At each decision, check intent, noticeability, connection to the goal, and visible progress.

  2. Interrupted path

    The success flow completes.

Reload midway, deny permission, and return after interruption. Record whether state, explanation, and recovery survive.

Run the skill by name

Install the Humane pack once, then name this skill when the task reaches its boundary.
